just a few things....

Two random things.....

1.  I am trying a new thing out this year - but I think that people probably already do this.  This year, every month I am going to try something new for a full month.  I am going to make my new monthly goals beneficial...hopefully my life will be better because of them.  "They" say it only takes 21 days to make something a habit....so here is to 30+ days of trying to form 12 good habits throughout the year.  I don't have all 12 months planned out but I do have a few in mind...

 - January: I am not spending any money on food outside of the grocery store.  I am making my breakfast at home (breakfast is my favorite meal to make - but unfortunately I love to sleep until the last second before I get up and only make it on the weekends), I am going to bring my lunch, and I am going to make dinner at home... Now, as usual, there are some special circumstances...  I am allowed to spend money on Saturday nights....and maybe Friday night?....if I go to dinner with a girlfriend, I am not going to make her pay! (I say girlfriend for a reason - let's just say Paul is a gentleman when it comes to dating ;) ).  Also, I must admit I am working late most nights this month and dinner is provided at work, BUT if I decide to go home early then you can be sure I will be making my dinner at home!  We'll see how much money I save....I can already say it feels very nice not spending $10 a day on lunch....

- February: I just mentioned that I love to sleep until the last second before I have to get up....literally the lasssssssttttt second (which means 30 minutes too long).  In February I am going to get up every weekday morning and go to the gym before work.  I don't know why I don't do it all the time, I actually feel so much better when I do start my day early.  I love getting ready at the gym, I feel more awake throughout the day after working out, and there is a really nice one (which I am a member of) 5 minutes from my work!!

 - March: maybe go Gluten free for a month?? still debating.....

2. Today, I am reminded to be grateful.  I found myself on Northpoint.org listening to a recent Andy Stanley series on gratefulness (link).  I thought about a few things that have unfolded lately and I realized how clear it is that I have been blessed with so much and have so much to be thankful for.  Even if some events feel uncertain and confusing, I should still consider them blessings from God - situations become much more powerful in a positive way.  In the message it emphasizes that while you may feel grateful...it is a much more powerful thing to actually express your gratitude.  So here I am - publicly professing my gratitude   ...below is a lyric I heard today...

"Your love is a symphony, all around me, running through me"

I plan to look at my life through the lens of gratitude...things just don't seem so bad when you are grateful believe all things have a purpose...a specific note in God's symphony, if you will.
