Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church

This past Sunday Paul and I tried another church  - this time we ventured to Cambridge to check out the Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church. I actually find these churches just by simply googling "Boston Churches" and then selecting those that seem more contemporary, as Paul is mostly familiar with Catholic churches in and around the city and we are on a quest to find a good contemporary Christian church here in Boston.  I’ll send Paul a few choices during the week, we make our decision, and then Sunday morning we are off.
As you can see in these pictures the exterior and interior structure of the Vineyard Church is absolutely beautiful.  Like most contemporary churches, Vineyard Church (link) has an acoustic band.  In order to enhance the sound of the band and decrease the echoing off the high ceilings, an acoustic cloud system was placed in the ceiling of the church.  It was an innovative way to solve a sound problem without taking away from the cathedral paintings and molding.

Sunday night, Paul and I did a little research on the lead pastor, Dave Schmelzer.  We discovered that Dave was an atheist prior to becoming a pastor.  He documented his journey to the Christian faith with his book Not The Religious Type, Confessions of a Turncoat Atheist.  Dave, a Stanford graduate, was previously an author, playwright, and critic in his “prior” life.  We really enjoyed his sermon and found it very thought provoking (although he speaks EXTREMELY fast…not used to that coming from the south).
I want to continue to visit churches all over Boston...but I have a feeling we will be back to visit Vineyard Christan Fellowship!

In other non-related news - I am planning to make dinner tonight.  Paul has been in New York for the past two days but should be back in time to enjoy my gourmet feast!  I have been slacking in the kitchen lately...I don't see how mothers cook a meal every single night.  I'm just trying to cook once a week and I can barely do that!  Tonight's menu is simple: Chicken, Sweet Potatoes, and some sort of green vegetable.  I read in a magazine that eating spinach, sweet potatoes, and oranges will help you keep your bronze glow during the winter – and Im realizing that “Boston”, “winter” and “pale” are terms that go VERY well together.  And since I have stopped going to the tanning bed I am now trying to get as much carotene in my system as I can!

Note to self: google “carotene overdose levels” - just in case winter goes longer and is colder and cloudier than expected…ha!
