Crafts: Masquerade Mask

This post is going to be short and sweet .
Reasons?:
1) I am busy at work attempting to clear my plate for all of next week as Im taking vacation to host 7 family members that are visiting for Thanksgiving (yikes!).
2) I need to run to Michaels during lunch to pick up a stick to attach to my mask
3) I need to leave work on time tonight (maybe even a little early) in order to be ready in time for the Charity Masquerade Ball/Event that I am attending tonight!

Lots of things on my "to-do list" people - which actually makes me uber productive!

Paul, Jenny, Rob, and I are joining a bunch of our friends tonight at the Artists for Humanity Epicenter for the 5th Annual Spero Gala.  The event's theme is "A Masquerade Blowout" benefiting the Play Ball Foundation which focuses on expanding sports for underprivileged Boston middle school students.

Event Highlights:
Full Open Bar
Hors d'Oeuvres
Live Music
Silent Auction
and Masks Encouraged!

The “Masks Encouraged” leads me to the main subject of this post - Making a Masquerade Mask!

The old me would have gone straight to the store and purchased one (spending way too much money I'm sure).  The new Bostonbelle blogger in me decided to make one and document it! It also doesn't hurt that Jenny is extremely crafty and had already purchased all of the materials (she is actually the main reason I wound up making my mask – so thanks Jenny!)

I doubt I need to explain the play-by-play of making the mask as it's rather simple – but I’m going to do it anyway.  All you need is a mask (duh), a hot glue gun (for best results), and glitter, feathers, sparkles, and rhinestones! (extra on the glitter, sparkles, and rhinestones of course

While making the mask – I pasued, thought of Project Runway's Tim Gunn and his advice when crafting a work of art - so I stepped back to edit my masterpiece.  During this “editing process”  I realized my mask was on the verge of becoming a bedazzled nightmare!!  Typical of me – but don’t worry I stopped applying rhinestones just in time!  And if you know me, you know I LOVE anything that shimmers, glitters, or sparkles …oh, wait I forgot to add sequins!!!??  Kiddingggg, sort of……

As for the rest of my weekend, I’ll be helping Paul prepare his place for my family who will be staying the entire Thanksgiving week (OH BOY!).  So some cleaning is in order, and we will also head to his parents to help them with anything and everything - and to also visit before the "chaos of the Weatherford clan's arrival" becomes a reality!  J/K Mom - I really can't wait!

Alright - it is now 12:48PM - I need to go grab lunch and then head to Michaels!  Have a great weekend everyone – cant wait to see y’all in Boston!
