Home Improvement: The Guest Bedroom

Paul and I will be having guests very soon!! My mom, 3 brothers -Trey, Evan, and Carson, and Trey's girlfriend Anna are all coming to Boston the week of Thanksgiving! Paul was nice enough to open up his house for them the entire week they are here.  This has motivated us even more to make changes and update his house (which I am documenting - don't you worry!).  Across from Paul's room upstairs is a guest bedroom which until last night....looked like the picture below.  For more than a year, it has just been Paul and Rob living there so there was no need to fix up the extra bedroom.  When Rob moved out, he moved Jenny's queen mattress here to store - so we thought we might as well put it to good use...and I think we did!

A little cleaning and a trip to Target and this room was well on its way to being a very warm and welcoming guest bedroom.

We took these "in-process action" shots with my phone - sorry for the blurriness but I wanted this stage of the room makeover to be captured!  One great thing about this bedroom, as well as Paul's bedroom, is the extremely tall ceilings.  However, I am a little worried about decorating the walls with artwork...the correct scale of the pieces is going to be tricky but crucial.
After another trip to HomeGoods, on my way home, we had everything we needed to fix up the room!  Below is the finished product!
I must say it was Paul's idea to go with the green (which I love) and I just added in some brown, cream, and an unexpected splash of color (dark pumpkin - in honor of my new favorite drink Pumpkin Spice from Starbucks) and the color scheme was done.  In the Spring and Summer we will just add some lighter throw-pillows that coordinate with the green and we will have a lighter feel for the lighter seasons.   I must say that I'm very partial to brown, green, and cream....probably because they happen to be the colors of Starbucks Coffee - my fav!!!!!!!! Sorry Dunkin Donuts fans (huge in Boston) - the store decorating and cups just don't compare to the genius marketing appeal of Starbucks....but back to the room!

"This bed has 15,000 pillows" - Paul.  Yes - I think the more pillows the better!

Above on the left is the lamp I purchased...and the lamp on the right is Paul's lamp.  He loves his lamp - as do I.  I have a feeling it will somehow find it's place downstairs in the living room so he can see it more often.
Below is a picture with my camera...is it weird that I prefer my iPhone pictures over the ones from my camera?  I think they capture the warmth of the room better...but I'm sure I'll continue to use both.

This room still has a ways to go - but for a 2 day makeover....I'm very happy with it.  :)

Happy hump day!
