The Town = my town

This past Friday night Paul and I went with Andrew and Laura (unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the four of us - ha!) to see the new Ben Affleck movie, "The Town."  I thought it was great!  A year ago I wouldn't have had a clue what towns they were talking about.....Charlestown, "Southie", Dorchester?!?  But it was so much fun watching a movie and every scene looking very familiar.  There are not many movies specifically about Atlanta (besides my all time favorite classic "Gone with the Wind") which once again leads me to believe Boston is a great town - they make movies about it!

If you have seen the movie, you know that they emphasize the "rough" parts of town.  During one of the mug scenes, Paul  leaned over and whispered "I'm glad you are seeing this after you moved."  I nodded and realized I was very tense!  On the walk home, Paul was a little over protective and assumed every male in the area was going to mug us - but we arrived home safely with all of our belongings!

I took this picture on Sunday while we walked around the North End.  It is from the second robbery scene when the guard is shot.

The "bank" in the scene is actually an upscale laundry mat that I walk by every morning on my walk to my car.
Change the sign and voila - you have a bank to be robbed!

Below are some more shots...the Going Bananas sign in the picture below is where I grocery shop every week!
