Crafts: Glass Tags

When I bought this box of potpourri (yes I had to look up how to spell it - I mean would you have known?) from HomeGoods for $5.99 (Paul may or may not have been there - probably was) I wasn't sure exactly how I was going to use it.  All I knew was that it had the colors that Sandy was using for Thanksgiving and there were too many pretty flowers, acorns, leaves, etc to pass up!
When hosting a party, one of my favorite things to do is serve drinks in a wine glass or goblet - no matter what is being served...wine, punch, water, tea, sodaaaaaa....everyone should be able to drink out of a pretty glass!  With such a large group (35 as I mentioned in my previous post) drink tags were definitely in order.

My first thought was to use the potpourri pieces on napkin rings or somewhere on the table....but when I held up a little potpourri flower to the bottom of the glass stem...it was just too cute!!
The project is cheap and super simple - not super simple in Martha Stewart's terms - super simple in my terms - which means....super simple (ok hopefully I got my point across).

Just cut some ribbon (a little longer than your index finger), hot glue the piece to the ribbon, and when cooled, hot glue the end together around the stem (I found it was easiest to attach the ends together with the glass upside down and the stem on top).
I must say....with my recent crafts - the hot glue gun has become my new favorite secret weapon.  It is clean (even with the messiest person (I make more messes than a 4 year old)), the glue peels right off if you need it to (especially on surfaces like glass), and it is neat (unless you are closely inspecting your project - it will look relatively seamless).

It only took me about 30 minutes to make 36 glass tags.  I used Thanksgiving colors but you can use whichever color scheme you please!  I'm sure most of you aren't huge potpourri purchasers....not with candles, glade, and febreeze gadgets these days...but you can find potpourri with almost any color in it...AND  you don't even have to use potpourri - you could really use anything for a glass tag!!!...ok now I am rambling.

Let me know if you make your own version of a glass tag with something unexpected...the possibilities are endless!
